The creation of a Ukrainian immigrant who learned his craft sewing shirt collars in the Lower East Side, Gant was founded in 1949 in New Haven Connecticut. Renowned for their high quality shirts with the diamond “G” embroidery, Gant was responsible for a number of innovations in shirting including the widespread propagation of the button down collar, the box pleat, and the locker loop. Today Gant carries on that heritage of innovation and style by producing a full range of cut and sew garments.
